OD Anosike, the 6‑foot‑8 former Siena College standout, announced on social media that he is ending his professional basketball career after 13 seasons spent playing overseas in leagues across Iran, Italy, South Korea, Turkey and beyond.
A Global Journey
During his decade‑long odyssey he captured three league championships in Libya and Mexico, spent four seasons in Italy where he became fluent in the language, and contributed to a well‑received stint in Tehran’s 2023‑24 season, praising the city’s cultural vibrancy.
Statistically, he posted a 10.5‑point, 11.9‑rebound average in Turkey’s second‑tier league last year, had previously led the nation in rebounds as a junior and senior at Siena, and received NBA Summer League invitations from the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics.
Off the court, Anosike bought a home in Charlotte, North Carolina, four years ago at the suggestion of former Siena strength coach Dan Taylor, and he balanced his playing years with graduate studies, earning a master’s degree in sports management from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in public administration from Liberty University.
Looking Ahead
Now turning his focus to coaching, Anosike expressed gratitude for mentors such as Dan Taylor and Gerry McNamara, and outlined his ambition to develop talent at the Division I level while remaining connected to the international basketball community.
