Ohio State is set to debut a brand‑new playing surface at Ohio Stadium this fall, as the university begins the offseason installation of a cutting‑edge turf system. The upgrade, announced this week, will replace the field that has served the Buckeyes for just four seasons.
The new surface comes from Shaw Sports Turf’s Forge Series, equipped with Game ON technology, a design that meets NFL specifications and promises improved shock absorption and traction for the players.
A Modern Upgrade for a Historic Venue
The installation is being overseen by The Motz Group, a contractor with deep ties to the program, while Safelite will continue its sponsorship, underscoring the partnership that blends safety, performance and branding.
Head coach Ryan Day welcomed the change, stating that the new turf reflects the program’s commitment to providing the best possible environment for its athletes.
Beyond player safety, the upgrade opens doors for additional sponsorship and branding opportunities, allowing the stadium to showcase new partnerships in a space that already draws record crowds.
The current turf, installed only four years ago, will be retired as the offseason work wraps up, marking another step in Ohio State’s ongoing effort to modernize its facilities.
