Brandon Inniss Receives 2026 Block O Honor
Ohio State announced that wide receiver Brandon Inniss will be the 2026 recipient of the Block O award, a distinction that celebrates leadership, toughness and character as much as on‑field production. The announcement came after preseason training camp and marks the first time since 2023 that an offensive player has been selected for the honor.
The Block O tradition began in 2020 to commemorate Bill Willis, a two‑time All‑American defensive end and early NFL pioneer. Since its inception the award has recognized players who embody accountability and service to teammates, values that extend well beyond statistics.
Inniss capped his junior season with 36 receptions for 271 yards and three touchdowns, while also handling punt returns. As one of two returning captains, he has been a vocal presence in the locker room, shaping team culture through preparation, teamwork and the respect he commands from peers.
Leadership Beyond the Stats
Coach Ryan Day described Inniss as the “right choice” for the award, citing his relentless preparation, collaborative spirit and the way he elevates those around him. Day emphasized that the selection reflects Inniss’s impact on teammates rather than mere production.
Previous Block O winners such as Jonathon Cooper, Thayer Munford, Kamryn Babb and Xavier Johnson have all been noted for their defensive or special‑teams contributions. Inniss’s selection signals a shift toward recognizing offensive leadership, a move that aligns with the team’s broader strategic goals.
Looking ahead, the Buckeyes will lean on Inniss’s experience as they prepare for the upcoming season. His blend of skill, work ethic and character sets a standard for younger players and reinforces the program’s commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
