Semifinal Highlights
The first day of the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s state baseball tournament delivered a slate of dramatic contests, with several teams advancing to the championship round.
In Division III, Badin High School outscored Parma Padua Franciscan 5-2, showcasing a resilient performance that kept their title hopes alive.
Division I saw Moeller defeat Perrysburg 8-6 in a back‑and‑forth affair, while St. Xavier cruised past Olentangy Orange 5-0, setting up a much‑anticipated showdown between the two.
Division VI featured Berlin Hiland’s 7-2 victory over St. Henry, a result that propelled the team into the final round.
Championship Schedule
The tournament’s schedule now shifts to the championship games, beginning Friday afternoon with the Division I final pitting Moeller against St. Xavier at 4 p.m. at 7 17 Credit Union Park in Akron.
Later that evening, the Division III championship will see Badin face Bishop Watterson at 7 p.m. on the same venue, while the Division VI title game is slated for 10 a.m. Friday, also at the Akron park, featuring Berlin Hiland against Lake Center Christian.
Saturday’s action moves to the Division IV semifinals, where Sandusky Perkins will meet Youngstown Cardinal Mooney and Fenwick will take on Fairfield Union, all scheduled for 7 17 Credit Union Park in Akron.
The Division V championship is set for 1 p.m. Friday, with Col. Academy squaring off against Waynedale, and the Division VII semifinals will be played at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium in Canton, featuring Delphos St. John’s versus Tiffin Calvert and Leipsic against South Webster.
With multiple venues across Akron and Canton, the tournament promises a packed weekend of high‑stakes baseball, drawing fans from across the state.
