Oklahoma City is set to welcome a new professional soccer franchise that will compete in the USL Championship beginning in 2028. The club, called OKC United, was unveiled with a brand identity that ties the city’s sense of unity to its rich soccer tradition.
A crest that tells a story
The crest features an arrowhead and 39 sun rays, symbols that echo Oklahoma’s Native American heritage. A zig‑zag pattern woven through the design draws inspiration from Jim Thorpe’s Sac and Fox name, Wa‑Tho‑Huk, linking the emblem to the state’s athletic legends.
Primary colors of midnight blue, pink sunset, and ivory cloud complete the visual identity, reflecting the hues of Oklahoma evenings and the sky over the city’s growing skyline.
A venue for more than soccer
OKC United will call the MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium home, a facility funded by the city’s MAPS 4 initiative and slated to open in 2028. With a capacity just over 10,000, the stadium is designed to host a variety of events, from concerts to community gatherings, making it a multi‑use hub for the region.
The venue’s flexible design ensures that soccer matches will be just one of many attractions, allowing the stadium to serve as a catalyst for broader economic and cultural activity in Oklahoma City.
A star‑studded ownership group
The ownership consortium includes athletes Russell Westbrook, Baker Mayfield, Jalen Williams, Jozy Altidore, and Sydney McLaughlin‑Levrone, who bring both local and national prominence to the project. Their involvement underscores a commitment to building a competitive, community‑focused club.
Additional investment comes from Echo Investment Capital, a private firm with a presence in the region, and the Chickasaw Nation, which holds a stake in the franchise and will continue to support the team’s development.
With the club’s name, crest, stadium plans, and ownership lineup now public, OKC United is poised to make its competitive debut in the USL Championship in 2028, marking a new chapter for professional soccer in Oklahoma City.
