Nestled on Fayetteville Street in Durham, North Carolina, O’Kelly‑Riddick Stadium has been the beating heart of North Carolina Central University football for nearly five decades, offering a compact and lively atmosphere that draws fans into the action.
A Name That Honors Pioneers
The venue bears the names of Cadd G. O’Kelly, who helped clear the land for the stadium in its early days, and Herman H. Riddick, whose 112‑57‑10 record as head coach remains a benchmark for Eagle football.
With a seating capacity of 10,000, the stadium is affectionately known as “The Nest” for its intimate, electric environment that amplifies every cheer.
Since opening in the mid‑1970s, O’Kelly‑Riddick has hosted a string of championship moments, most recently the 2022 HBCU national title secured under head coach Trei Oliver.
A Busy 2026 Home Slate
In the upcoming 2026 season, the Eagles will play six home games at the historic venue, highlighted by matchups against longtime rivals North Carolina A&T and Colonial Athletic Association opponent William & Mary.
Beyond the gridiron, the stadium serves as a community gathering place, reinforcing Durham’s football culture and providing a platform for future Eagle stars.
