Oklahoma's 2026 Baseball Triumph
The 2026 college baseball season reached its climax when the Oklahoma Sooners captured the national championship, edging out a field of powerhouse programs to claim the title at the College World Series.
In the wake of that victory, the final USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll placed the Florida Gators at No. 19, reflecting a 41‑21 overall record and an 18‑12 slate in SEC competition, after they were eliminated by the Troy Trojans.
SEC’s Continued Dominance
Oklahoma’s ascent to the top spot reshaped the SEC landscape, with the conference also seeing Georgia locked at No. 3, while Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Auburn all featured in the top ten, underscoring the league’s depth.
Troy’s unexpected run to the championship game propelled them to No. 8 in the rankings, a remarkable rise for a program that had been largely overlooked earlier in the year.
Meanwhile, the Miami Hurricanes managed only six votes on the final ballot, and Florida State slipped just ahead of Florida at No. 18, completing a tightly contested top‑25 picture.
The full top 25 also included Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee, each earning a place among the nation’s elite as the new season looms.
