A crucial week of preparation
Oklahoma State is gearing up for its Week Three showdown with Tulsa, and the preparation has taken on a distinctively hands‑on flavor. Coach Eric Morris confirmed the starting lineup on Monday, highlighting the battle for the right‑tackle spot that will shape the Cowboys’ front line.
Shaun Torgerson, a transfer from Portland State, is expected to claim the position despite sharing reps with Ashton Lepo, who arrived from Michigan State. Both players bring recent starting experience; Torgerson anchored the Vikings’ line last season while Lepo was a regular for the Spartans two years ago.
The remainder of the offensive line appears set, with Jacob Sexton slotting in at left tackle, Tyler Mercer at center, and the guard spots manned by Johnny Dickson III and Joseph Hanson. Their collective weight and athleticism, especially Torgerson’s 300‑pound frame, are being emphasized as key assets.
To fine‑tune chemistry, the Cowboys are staging a mock game that simulates full‑speed game conditions. The session will be held outdoors, allowing the team to acclimate to the elements that will greet them on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Recruiting remains a focal point for the program. Morris stressed the importance of communication and visibility when courting high‑school talent in Oklahoma, noting three committed in‑state prospects for the 2027 class and upcoming official visits to games at Oregon on September 12 and Texas Tech on November 14.
'We want our players to be seen and heard by the kids who look up to them,' Morris said. 'If they can picture themselves in a Cowboys uniform, the rest falls into place.'
