Ole Miss baseball rode a surprising run to the College World Series last season, but the momentum has already begun to shift as the roster undergoes a major overhaul.
A New Look for the Rebels
The departure of several key players to the MLB Draft has left a void in the lineup. Cade Townsend and Taylor Rabe were both selected in the first round by the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals, while Hudson Calhoun went to the Texas Rangers in the fourth round. Their slot values exceed $3 million for Townsend and Rabe, and top $650,000 for Calhoun.
At the same time, five Rebels entered the transfer portal, and the program responded by adding twelve newcomers from the portal. Among the arrivals are TCU catcher Brady Dallimore, who left the Big 12 for the SEC, and Clemson third baseman Jason Fultz Jr., who will replace Judd Utermark.
The coaching staff received a vote of confidence as head coach Mike Bianco was offered a new four‑year contract worth roughly $1.8 million per season.
The incoming class brings a mix of experience and potential. Louisiana Tech first baseman Trey Hawsey will start his junior year in Oxford, while Hayden Federico remains in center field. Indiana outfielder Caleb Koskie and Houston transfer Blake Fields are expected to bolster the outfield and left‑field spots respectively.
The pitching staff will be reshaped by a group of eight portal pitchers, including left‑hander Sean Carey from Sacramento State, who posted a 4.57 ERA, and right‑hander Kendall Hoffman from Houston with a 4.56 ERA. Other arms such as Andrew Rogovic, Charlie Foster, Eli Pillsbury, Charlie Willcox, Mavrick Rizy and Brent Stukes bring a variety of experience levels.
With the new roster in place, the Rebels hope to bounce back from a gritty but lackluster 2026 campaign and contend again in the SEC.
