Preseason expectations set the stage

The poll also highlighted Ole Miss's eight preseason all‑SEC recognitions, underscoring the individual talent that will be on display. Among the honorees, quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, running back Kewan Lacy and defensive lineman Will Echoles earned spots on the first team, while kicker Lucas Caneiro made the second team as both kicker and kickoff specialist.
Linebacker Suntarine Perkins also received a second‑team nod, and offensive lineman Patrick Kutas along with defensive lineman Kam Franklin were placed on the third team. These selections illustrate a balanced strength across offense, defense and special teams for Ole Miss.
Opening night in Nashville
The Rebels will begin their schedule with a Sunday night showdown on September 6, traveling to Nashville to face Louisville at Nissan Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Central Time, marking the first test of the new-look Ole Miss squad under the bright lights of the SEC.
