Ole Miss Rebels Rebuild Roster with Experience and Size

Coach Chris Beard reshapes the team ahead of the new season, emphasizing veteran talent and physicality

Last season the Ole Miss Rebels men’s basketball squad failed to live up to expectations despite a roster that promised more than it delivered.

Coach Chris Beard, who took the helm this offseason, has announced a sweeping rebuild that prioritizes size, experience and a more physical brand of play.

The team will return only two players from the previous campaign – senior Ilias Kamardine and standout freshman Patton Pinkins – while welcoming a wave of newcomers.

Among the newcomers, redshirt freshman Niko Bundalo stands out as the highest‑rated recruit in program history, currently exploring options in the transfer portal, and four‑star wing Ben Henshall, a 6‑foot‑5, 22‑year‑old who has logged three seasons overseas.

A Roster Built on Experience

The overall theme of the roster is clear: age, size and experience over youth. Coach Beard has already secured a high school signee, Jaron Saulsberry, and has added transfers from a diverse set of programs including Seton Hall, Pitt, Arizona State, St. Joseph’s, James Madison, Pepperdine, Butler, Dayton, Michigan, Portland State, Georgia Tech and UTEP.

At the same time, the outgoing list reads like a roster turnover story, with players such as Eduardo Klafke, Travis Perry, Corey Chest, Koren Johnson, Tylis Jordan, Augusto Cassia and James Scott departing the program.

The blend of veteran presence and fresh talent suggests a deliberate attempt to shift the culture toward a more robust, competitive identity as the Rebels look to rebound in the upcoming season.
