A Strategic Move for the Colts
Omari Moore, a 6‑foot‑1 guard from Hudson Catholic in New Jersey, is set to join the SUNY Orange Colts for the upcoming season after completing a transfer from Manhattan University. His arrival comes as the program looks to rebuild after a period of limited minutes for the freshman.
During his lone year at Manhattan, Moore saw action in only eight games, logging 36 minutes and scoring a modest 1.1 points per game. Prior to that, he had been a standout at Hudson Catholic, where he averaged 15.1 points per game and earned first‑team All‑County honors.
Rickard’s Vision for Division I Talent
Coach Tom Rickard, who has guided the Colts to four consecutive Region XV championships and three national tournament appearances, believes Moore possesses the skill set to compete at the Division I level. “He’s a Division I‑level player,” Rickard said, expressing confidence that Moore will make an immediate impact.
Rickard also highlighted that Moore first became aware of the Orange program through the visit of Anthony Pacciarelli, a fellow guard who recently transferred from SUNY Orange to Manhattan. That connection helped seal the deal for the coaching staff.
The transfer not only adds depth to the roster but also reinforces the program’s recruitment strategy, leveraging relationships within the local basketball circuit to attract talent capable of elevating the team’s national profile.
