Oregon Adds Fineman to Coaching Roster
The University of Oregon announced this week that Ryan Fineman will join the Ducks as its new recruiting coordinator and assistant coach, a move that underscores the program’s ambition to return to the national elite.
Fineman arrives after a standout tenure at Troy University, where he helped guide the Trojans to their first ever appearance in the College World Series, showcasing his talent for unearthing and developing top amateur talent.
His playing background adds another layer of credibility; Fineman starred collegiately at Indiana University and even saw brief professional action with the Tampa Bay Rays before turning to coaching, where he has worked extensively with catchers at both the college and pro levels.
The hiring comes at a time when Oregon’s baseball program, under head coach Mark Wasikowski, has enjoyed sustained success, posting at least 36 wins in each season since 2020 and reaching the NCAA Super Regional round in three of the past four years.
Despite those achievements, the Ducks have yet to break through to the Men’s College World Series since 1954, a drought that the new staff hopes to end as they target a historic run in the upcoming season.
Athletic director Rob Mather highlighted the strategic fit, noting that Fineman’s blend of scouting acumen, player development, and personal experience aligns perfectly with the program’s vision, joining a coaching cadre that includes veteran mentors such as Jack Marder and Skylar Meade.
