New Faces on the Bench
Oregon State University’s men’s basketball program announced a series of staff appointments that promise to deepen its operational and analytical capabilities. The additions come as the Beavers look to build on recent on‑court progress and enhance recruiting outreach.
Derek Saich, who will serve as Director of Operations, arrives after stints at Idaho, San Francisco, Texas Southern, Nevada and UC Santa Barbara. His varied experience across the West Coast and Midwest is expected to streamline day‑to‑day logistics and support staff coordination.
Ryan Noriego joins as Video Coordinator, bringing a background from San Diego State. In his new role he will oversee film acquisition, editing and opposition scouting, providing the team with timely visual resources for player development.
Shawn Moore takes on the title of Assistant Director of Operations, leveraging prior work at West Valley College and UC Santa Barbara. His responsibilities will include travel coordination, event management and the implementation of efficiency initiatives within the program.
Strategic Vision for Growth
Graduate assistants Jackson Wegner and Cam McCoy round out the cohort. Wegner, a former West Valley College coach and Viking player, will contribute on both coaching and academic support fronts. McCoy, who concluded his playing career at Langston University after a stint at Cerritos College, will bring a player‑first perspective to the staff.
The university’s athletic director highlighted that the new hires reflect a strategic investment in people who can translate diverse collegiate experiences into tangible competitive advantages. Their combined expertise is positioned to accelerate player growth and strengthen the program’s overall infrastructure.
