Oregon State University’s women’s basketball team has secured its first verbal commitment for the Class of 2027, landing forward Berkley Jones of Eagle, Idaho. The announcement came on Monday and marks a milestone for the program as it looks to build on recent successes.
A Commitment from the Gem State
Jones, a four‑star prospect according to the SportsCenter Next 100 rankings, chose Oregon State over scholarship offers from BYU, Kansas, Stanford and Oregon. Her decision reflects both the appeal of the Beavers’ coaching staff and the program’s upward trajectory.
Ranked No. 67 nationally, Jones brings a blend of scoring and rebounding that helped Eagle High School capture the Idaho 6A state title. She capped her junior season with a 42‑point outing, the single‑game record for her school.
Beyond the numbers, she earned two‑time first‑team all‑state honors and was named the 2025‑26 Girls Basketball Athlete of the Year in Idaho, averaging 22.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists.

The Beavers’ 2027 haul also includes Taylor Young from Central Point, Oregon, who set a 5A tournament scoring record with 85 points, and Maggie Warpus, a 6‑foot‑2 forward from Chenango Forks, New York, who captured Class B Player of the Year honors after leading her team to a state semifinal.
Additional signees include Ashley Uusitalo, who broke her Washington high school’s three‑point record with 133 makes, and Evelini Smith, a top‑30 Northern California prospect known for her inside‑out versatility.
International Additions
Coach Scott Rueck also welcomed French forward Genesia Mayele and Ukrainian post Mariia Ignatchenko, adding global depth and varied skill sets to the roster.
