Oregon State University’s women’s basketball program has secured its first commitment for the Class of 2027, landing four‑star forward Berkley Jones, a standout from Eagle, Idaho, who announced her decision on Monday.
A Recruiting Boost for the Beavers
Jones, ranked 67th in the SportsCenter Next 100, chose the Beavers over offers from BYU, Kansas, Stanford and Oregon, a decision that head coach Scott Rueck hailed as a pivotal moment for the program.
Her high school résumé reads like a highlight reel: a two‑time first‑team all‑state selection, the 2025‑26 Idaho Girls Basketball Athlete of the Year, and the leader of Eagle High to the 6A state championship, where she set a single‑game scoring record with 42 points against Rocky Mountain High.
Beyond her scoring prowess, Jones averaged 22.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists as a junior, numbers that helped her earn the top ranking among Idaho prospects.
The Beavers’ incoming class also features Taylor Young, a Central Point, Oregon native who capped his high school career with an 85‑point outburst in a 5A state title game, as well as Maggie Warpus, a 6‑foot‑2 forward from New York who was named Class B Player of the Year and posted 21 points per game.
Also joining the roster are Ashley Uusitalo, an all‑state first‑team guard from Washington who shattered her school’s three‑point record and earned league MVP honors at Lake Washington High, and Evelini Smith, a top‑30 Northern California wing known for her shooting efficiency and contribution to a top‑25 ranked high school team.
Adding further depth, the program signed French forward Genesia Mayele and Ukrainian post Mariia Ignatchenko, who will arrive as freshmen and juniors for the 2026‑27 season, respectively.
Together, these recruits not only reinforce Oregon State’s recruiting footprint across the western United States and beyond, but they also promise to elevate the team’s competitiveness in the Pac‑12 and on the national stage.
