The 2023 season ended in disappointment for the Oregon State Beavers, whose offense managed only 17 goals across the entire schedule. The limited production was compounded by the loss of three pivotal forwards, leaving a void that the coaching staff must now address.
A Revamped Attack
Returning forward Adele Schwab brings a modest but valuable 2023 tally of two goals and four assists, serving as one of the few proven scorers back in the lineup. Adding to the mix is newcomer Amber Ogbolu, a JUCO transfer from Gillette College who set a record with 23 goals last season, bringing a fresh source of firepower to the front line.
Midfield stability will hinge on a blend of experience and new faces. Returning midfielders Adele Schwab, Isa Calderon and London Tsuma provide continuity, while transfers Sophia Zboyan and Morgan Long, along with freshman Leanne Oropeza, promise added depth. Zboyan previously logged minutes for Colorado, and Long contributed a goal and two assists at Daytona State College.
The coaching staff acknowledges that the team's formation and tactical approach remain fluid. High turnover among forwards and midfielders forces a period of experimentation, as the Beavers seek the right balance between creativity and efficiency in the upcoming season.
Beyond the pitch, the program is anchored by Oregon State University, with connections to partner institutions such as the University of Montana, Gillette College, the University of Colorado and Daytona State College. The roster features players from diverse backgrounds, including a stint with Mexico's U15 national team for Leanne Oropeza, underscoring the international flavor of the squad.
