A nostalgic reunion
The beloved cast of the 1990s baseball classic *The Sandlot* is gathering once again, this time for a YouTube mini‑series that promises to capture the same youthful spirit that made the original film a cultural touchstone.
Titled *Dugout Dads*, the new series follows a first‑time Little League coach who finds himself at odds with overly competitive parents on the diamond. The premise blends humor with a heartfelt exploration of community, nostalgia and the unexpected drama that unfolds when adults take the game too seriously.
Behind the camera
The project is the brainchild of Patrick Renna and Kyle Howard’s Hambino Media, with a writing team led by Sebastian Jones and Dan Kopelman and direction by Victor Nelli Jr.
Returning actors such as Tom Guiry, Chauncey Leopardi, Marty York, Brandon Quintin Adams, Victor DiMattia, Shane Obedzinski, Grant Gelt and Will Horneff reprise their iconic roles, while newcomers Michael Peña and Danielle Fishel add fresh energy to the lineup.
Patrick Renna has described the 30‑year reunion as an unforgettable experience, noting that meeting the original cast again and collaborating with new talent felt like stepping back into a shared childhood that still resonates with today’s families.
The mini‑series is now streaming on YouTube, with the creators hinting at the possibility of expanding the story into a full‑length season if the response is positive.
