Las Vegas native and four‑year NBA veteran Orlando Robinson is set to host his second annual basketball camp, a free, week‑long program designed for boys and girls between the ages of eight and sixteen.
The camp, held in the heart of the city, brings together a roster of professional players who serve as coaches and mentors, delivering hands‑on training that stretches beyond dribbling and shooting.
What sets this year’s edition apart is the integration of mental‑awareness sessions, where participants explore resilience, stress management and emotional regulation alongside basketball drills.
A Holistic Approach to Youth Development
By weaving together skill clinics, mindfulness exercises and resource tables, the camp aims to cultivate well‑rounded individuals prepared for the challenges of school, sport and life.
Robinson, who grew up in Las Vegas before the arrival of major professional franchises, says the camp is personal. “I wanted to create the opportunities I never had as a kid,” he explains, emphasizing the dual focus on athletic development and personal growth.
Organizers have partnered with local schools and community centers to distribute books and educational materials on site, ensuring that the experience is as enriching off the court as it is on it.
Bryan Salmond, a longtime collaborator, joins Robinson in guiding the youth, bringing additional expertise to the program’s mental‑health curriculum.
The initiative reflects a broader mission to inspire and empower the next generation of Las Vegas youth, offering a pathway to both sporting achievement and mental well‑being.
