Osani Gayles, a four-star wide receiver from the 2027 recruiting class, announced his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Tuesday, choosing the SEC powerhouse over the Washington Huskies and Stanford Cardinal.
A Commitment That Resonates Beyond the Field
The pledge comes after a standout senior season at IMG Academy in Florida, where Gayles recorded 20 receptions for 492 yards and five touchdowns, earning the No. 7 spot among the nation’s top receivers from both 247Sports and ESPN.
Analysts such as Andrew Bone and Tim Watts had projected Gayles to Alabama as far back as June 12, and 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins described him as a gifted inside receiver with intelligence and polish.
His addition bumps Alabama’s 2027 class to 13 verbal pledges, positioning the group to climb from a No. 60 ranking by 247Sports to No. 34 in Rivals’ latest update, a jump that reflects the Tide’s growing momentum under head coach Kalen DeBoer.
The commitment also marks the ninth verbal for DeBoer’s staff since May 31, and it arrives alongside other recent pledges, including three-star cornerback Darrius White, offensive linemen Stafford Willis and Tyler Younger, and receiver Jeremiah Beverly.
Beyond the skill positions, Alabama’s 2027 haul includes five-star kicker Luke Cody, consensus five-star quarterback Elijah Haven, and four-star prospect Trent Seaborn, who pledged in October 2025, underscoring the breadth of talent the Tide is securing.
Recruiting experts note that Gayles’ decision not only bolsters the receiving corps but also signals a broader trend of elite prospects gravitating toward Alabama’s offensive scheme, a development that could reshape the balance of power in the SEC.
