Owls Aim to Rebound as They Face Tennessee Tech

After a tough defeat, standout performances by Bernal, Kennedy and Balchen offer hope for a turnaround

The Owls are set to close out August with a road test against Tennessee Tech, a matchup that could prove pivotal in their early-season trajectory.

Just days earlier, Kennesaw State fell 4-0 to Auburn, a game where the Owls led for much of the first half before surrendering two late goals that sealed the defeat.

Goalkeeper Charlee Bernal contributed nine saves, pushing her career total to 162 and cementing her spot among the program’s all‑time leaders.

On the offensive side, Lara Kennedy continues to be the team’s most prolific scorer in the Conference USA slate, having already recorded three goals, including a brace against Alabama State.

Julia Balchen added a brace in that same 5‑0 victory, contributing six points — the highest single‑game total for an Owl since 2021 — and showcasing the depth of the attack.

A New Funding Push

The newly launched Champions Fund promises to bolster recruitment, retention and facility upgrades, aiming to provide student‑athletes with comprehensive support services.
