Oyster Bay Launches Fall and Winter Youth Ice Hockey Program
Oyster Bay Town Councilman Lou Imbroto has unveiled a new Fall and Winter Youth Ice Hockey Program designed for boys and girls between the 8U and 16U age groups. The initiative, set to kick off on September 27, 2026, promises a comprehensive schedule of training camps, league play and postseason playoffs.
Registration for the program will open on August 26 for families who can provide proof of residency, with non‑residents able to sign up two days later on August 28. Both registration windows begin at 9:00 a.m., and participants must submit a birth certificate, proof of address and the required fees before securing a spot.
The ten‑week curriculum includes a series of clinics that cater to different skill levels, featuring dedicated all‑girls sessions, a 6U introductory track and adult learn‑to‑play classes. Each clinic focuses on fundamental techniques such as skating, stickhandling and shooting, while also emphasizing teamwork and community building.
Program organizers stress that the effort is about more than competition; it is intended to teach core hockey skills, foster friendships among youngsters and provide a safe, structured environment for players of all abilities. Participants are required to bring their own equipment and demonstrate basic skating proficiency.
