The Green Bay Packers announced Tuesday that they have claimed wide receiver Brenden Rice off waivers, a move that adds another layer of experience to their offensive arsenal.
Rice’s football journey began at the University of Southern California, where he emerged as a reliable target, recording 84 receptions for 1,402 yards and 16 touchdowns over the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2024 NFL Draft, Rice appeared in three games as a rookie, contributing on offense for three snaps and on special teams for ten.
Prior to his professional stint, Rice also spent time on practice squads and active rosters with the Las Vegas Raiders, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, giving him a breadth of exposure to different offensive schemes.

The signing also rekindles a college‑era connection, as Rice’s former USC quarterback, Caleb Williams, now leads the Chicago Bears, setting the stage for a potential NFC North rivalry that could spark additional storylines.
