The Green Bay Packers caught the attention of a small Wisconsin community this week as they unveiled a surprise gift for the local high school football program.
Through the team's Helmet Give Back initiative, the NFL franchise partnered with coaches and athletic directors across the state to award $7,500 worth of equipment to ten selected schools, each receiving a set of brand‑new helmets.
A Helmet for Every Player
Offensive lineman Darian Kinnard traveled to Weyauwega‑Fremont High School to hand over 25 five‑star helmets, a gesture that left interim head coach Mike Hansen speechless.
Hansen explained that the donation was beyond what the school could have afforded on its own, underscoring the significance of the Packers' support for rural athletics.
The Packers had invited applications from coaches and athletic directors last fall, ultimately choosing ten districts to receive the equipment packages, each valued at $7,500.
While Weyauwega‑Fremont is the first school to publicly display the new helmets, the remaining nine recipients will receive theirs later this summer, extending the program's reach across Wisconsin.
The gesture not only upgrades the team's gear but also reinforces the Packers' commitment to community development and youth sports in the state.
