Former Indiana University forward Palmer Ault has officially joined St. Louis CITY SC, signing a contract that runs through the 2027 season with club options for the following two campaigns.
A fresh face in the Western Conference
The 22‑year‑old arrives after a breakout year with St. Louis CITY2 in MLS NEXT Pro, where he recorded eight goals and five assists in 15 appearances, showcasing his ability to find the net under pressure.
Ault’s collegiate résumé is equally impressive. In his sole season with Indiana in 2025 he topped the Big Ten with 16 goals and added 10 assists over 19 games, establishing himself as one of the conference’s most prolific scorers.
Prior to his Indiana stint, he spent three seasons at Butler University, compiling 21 goals and 12 assists in 49 matches, a trajectory that caught the eye of MLS scouts.
Although he was selected in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids, Ault elected to complete his senior year with the Hoosiers before making the move to the professional ranks.
Corey Wray’s endorsement
St. Louis CITY SC Sporting Director Corey Wray welcomed the signing, noting Ault’s rapid development and professional conduct as key assets for a squad currently positioned 12th in the 15‑team Western Conference.
The club has secured Ault on a long‑term deal, with the option to extend through 2028 and 2029, signaling a commitment to building around young talent.
Indiana’s season opener
Indiana’s regular season will open on Aug. 20 against Notre Dame at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, a game that will mark the next chapter for Ault as he balances his professional obligations with his alma mater’s schedule.
