A New Era for Palouse Baseball
The Palouse Patriots baseball program has restructured its offerings into a three‑tier system that spans the 19‑under, 17‑under and 16‑under age groups, officially named Patriots AAA, Patriots AA and Patriots A. This consolidation replaces the previous fragmented approach and creates a clear pathway for young athletes to progress through the organization.
At the helm of the AAA squad is first‑year coach Nate Clark, who emphasizes long‑term player development over short‑term wins. Clark’s vision is to ready each participant for varsity competition and, eventually, collegiate baseball, a goal that resonates throughout the entire program.
The AAA roster boasts a deep pitching staff, featuring standouts such as Brody Barnett and Zachary Kroll, while position players Cash McCann and Will Denney return as key contributors known for their work ethic and skill. Their presence adds depth and competition that coaches say will elevate the entire group.
In the AA division, Nate Akesson focuses on hitting mechanics and mental resilience, encouraging players like Ross Cofer and Will Hyatt to embrace athletic versatility. Meanwhile, James Bledsoe Jr., the first‑year head coach of the A team, prioritizes personal growth, leadership and a positive attitude, with Toby Stewart and Keegan Caessens serving as exemplars of the program’s culture.
Across all levels, the coaching staff stresses mental development and the ability to bounce back from setbacks — a philosophy that aligns with the broader mission of the Patriots program: to foster a fun, competitive environment that prepares players for higher levels of baseball. The organization also benefits from the support of the American Legion, which provides structural and community backing.
