Paris Basketball has been penalised by the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB) after a social‑media post that accused a Strasbourg player of deliberately injuring one of its own athletes.
The club’s Facebook update, which was online for roughly fifteen hours before being removed, alleged that SIG Strasbourg’s William Pfister had targeted Sebastian Herrera during Game 2 of the playoff series, questioning both the referee’s judgment and the league’s safety standards.
While Herrera’s injury proved minor and he returned to the court shortly thereafter, the LNB determined that the post damaged the competition’s image and ordered a €3,000 sanction, half of which is suspended.
Digital conduct under scrutiny
The disciplinary decision follows a pattern of tighter enforcement, echoing the recent penalties imposed on Elan Chalon for similar digital infractions, and was prompted by a complaint from SIG Strasbourg president Jérôme Rosenstiehl.
