A Community‑Driven Soccer Experience
Park City Rec is rolling out its annual Social Soccer league, a program that takes its cue from the excitement of the FIFA World Cup while steering clear of high‑stakes competition. The initiative is built around the simple idea that sport can be a catalyst for connection, encouraging participants to stay active and meet new people in a relaxed setting.
When teams are formed, each player completes a self‑assessment of their skill level and may request to be paired with one teammate of their choosing. This approach lets friends or acquaintances stay together while still fostering a diverse mix of abilities on the field.
The season is scheduled to run from August 13 to October 1, with all matches taking place on Thursday evenings at the Quinns Jct. Sports Complex. Over the course of the program, every team will play eight games, and there will be no tournament bracket or knockout stage.
Registration is currently open at a reduced rate of $50, with the fee set to increase to $60 beginning August 8. Interested players can sign up through the city’s recreation portal and secure their spot before the early‑bird deadline.
Organizers stress that the league’s core mission is to promote sportsmanship and an inclusive atmosphere, ensuring that participants of all backgrounds feel welcome to play, laugh and enjoy the game together.
