Pat Chambers Looks Ahead to a Revitalized FGCU Men’s Basketball Season

Eight returning players and a fresh influx of talent set the stage for a promising 2026‑27 campaign

Continuity and new faces

Pat Chambers, the head coach of Florida Gulf Coast University’s men’s basketball program, is upbeat about the upcoming 2026‑27 season.

The Eagles will enter the campaign with eight of their previous roster still under contract, a stability that ranks among the minimal turnover rates in the ASUN Conference.

Among the returning pieces, Darren Williams stands out as the team’s leading returner across most statistical categories, while Tristen Guillouette anchors the paint with top marks in offensive rebounds and blocks.

Adding to the mix are eight newcomers, a blend of four transfers and four freshmen, who bring a variety of skill sets and experiences.

Elijah Brooks, a graduate transfer from Houston Christian, joins the backcourt, while Bryson Lucas arrives from Cal U, where he posted averages of 17.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.

CJ Outlaw, son of former NBA veteran Bo Outlaw, comes to Fort Myers after a stint at UMass, bringing size and versatility.

Justin Houser, the program’s first 7‑0 tall player in school history, adds a unique presence in the paint.

International experience also figures prominently, as Nikolas Sermpezis, who previously competed for FC Bayern in Germany, brings a European perspective to the squad.

The freshman contingent includes Turk Brown III, Kingston Wheatley and Trace Westercamp, a stateside trio expected to contribute immediately.

Coach’s vision

Coach Chambers emphasized the importance of continuity, noting that the limited number of departures via the transfer portal positions the team well for a competitive season in the ASUN.

With a blend of seasoned returnees and promising newcomers, the program aims to build on recent progress and contend for conference honors.
