Colorado School of Mines announced today that Pat Jolley will take the helm of its baseball program, bringing a blend of competitive fire and academic rigor to the Orediggers.
A strategic hire for the Orediggers
Jolley’s eight‑year tenure at Regis University culminated in three straight appearances at the RMAC tournament and a landmark NCAA tournament berth in 2024, moments that reshaped the program’s profile.
During his time in Denver he also oversaw a cultural shift toward scholarly achievement, guiding teams that captured the RMAC Brechler Award for the highest collective GPA in both 2024 and 2025.
Academic excellence meets athletics
His coaching journey stretches across the country, from stints at Northern Colorado and Centenary to a productive period at Bossier Parish Community College, where he mentored 63 all‑conference selections, six all‑Americans and ten players who would later hear their names called in the MLB draft.
Off the field, Jolley holds an associate’s degree from Lassen Community College (2002) and a bachelor’s in social studies education from LSU‑Shreveport (2005), credentials that underscore his commitment to student‑athlete development.
Prior to his collegiate roles, he served as an Associate MLB Amateur Scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2009‑10), an experience that sharpened his talent‑evaluation acumen and will inform his recruiting strategy for the Orediggers.
Athletic director David Hansburg expressed confidence that Jolley’s blend of on‑field success and off‑field integrity will propel the program forward, while university president Adam Paniagua highlighted the coach’s alignment with the institution’s academic mission.
