Hall of Fame Induction
Patrice Bergeron, the longtime captain of the Boston Bruins, has been selected for the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026. The ceremony will take place on November 9 in Toronto, where the inductee will be celebrated alongside other legends of the sport.
Bergeron’s 19‑year tenure with the Bruins saw him appear in 1,294 NHL games, accumulating 427 goals and 613 assists for a total of 1,040 points. He remains the franchise leader in faceoff victories, with 15,182 wins and a career win percentage of 57.9 percent.
His excellence was recognized repeatedly, earning the Selke Trophy a record six times and the Mark Messier Leadership Award in 2020‑21. The following season, he received the King Clancy Memorial Trophy for his dedication to community service, underscoring a career defined as much by skill as by character.
Retirement of No. 37
This season, the Bruins will retire Bergeron’s No. 37, adding his jersey to the rafters of TD Garden. The ceremony will be part of a broader celebration that highlights his impact on and off the ice, including his role in the Triple Gold Club, which comprises Olympic gold, IIHF World Championship, and Stanley Cup titles.
Beyond individual accolades, Bergeron was a cornerstone of the 2011 Stanley Cup championship team and contributed 128 playoff games, ranking second in franchise history. He also shares the NHL record for most Game 7 appearances with former teammate Zdeno Chara, a testament to his durability in high‑stakes contests.
Fans and analysts alike anticipate the induction as a moment to reflect on Bergeron’s humility, work ethic, and the standards he set for future generations. As the hockey world prepares to honor his legacy, the event promises to cement his place among the game’s all‑time greats.
