Patrick Bowlin, a 2008 Cotter High School graduate from Winona, Minnesota, has accepted an assistant coaching position with the University of Washington women's basketball team. The appointment was announced by head coach Tina Langley, who highlighted Bowlin's blend of playing experience and coaching acumen as a perfect fit for a program that has recently posted back‑to‑back NCAA Tournament appearances.
A Coach With Deep Roots
Bowlin's journey to the Pac‑12 began on the hardwood and volleyball courts of his hometown. He played point guard at St. John’s University, graduating in 2012, and later turned his attention to volleyball before pivoting fully to basketball coaching.
His coaching résumé includes stints as head coach of girls’ basketball at Totino‑Grace and Rogers high schools, as well as a tenure at the College of Saint Benedict where he helped guide the team to multiple conference titles. In 2021 he transitioned to Division I, joining the University of Wisconsin‑Green Bay staff and contributing to a series of Horizon League championships and NCAA Tournament bids.
During his time at UW‑Green Bay, Bowlin worked under the mentorship of longtime program architect, helping the team secure double‑digit wins and a 22‑11 record that earned a No. 25 ranking in the final AP poll. The experience sharpened his focus on culture, relationships, and the development of student‑athletes.
Now at Washington, Bowlin joins a staff that has already tasted postseason success. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the Huskies' emphasis on culture and academic excellence aligns with his own coaching philosophy. “I’m excited to be part of a program that values relationships as much as results,” he said.
