Patriot League Baseball Team Honors Standout Players and Transitions Leadership

Cole Bonner earns MVP and scholar‑athlete accolades, while Sam Szczesny and others receive awards as the squad passes the captain’s torch to Cole Michelson

Honors on the Field

The Duxbury Dragons gathered last week to celebrate a season that delivered both on‑field triumphs and academic excellence.

Cole Bonner was crowned Team Most Valuable Player while also earning the Patriot League Scholar‑Athlete distinction, underscoring his dual commitment to sport and study.

Pitcher Sam Szczesny added another layer of recognition by receiving the Special K award for the most strikeouts on the mound and being named the Dragons’ Most Valuable Pitcher.

Bob Widdop was honored with the team’s Most Improved award, while Jack Carney collected both the Patriot League Sportsmanship Award and the team Coaches Award.

The trio of Szczesny, Lucas Falls and Bonner were also selected as Patriot League all‑stars, highlighting the depth of talent on the roster.

Passing the Torch

Outgoing captains Sam Szczesny, Jack Carney, Cole Bonner, Gavin Wallace and Lucas Falls took the opportunity to hand over leadership to incoming captain Cole Michelson.

The club hinted that additional captains may be appointed later, ensuring continuity as the team looks toward the next season.

With a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging stars, the Dragons are poised to build on their recent successes and aim for fresh milestones.
