On a bright Saturday at Gillette Stadium, the New England Patriots Foundation staged a Parent & Youth Educational Clinic designed to spark early interest in football among children aged six to twelve.
Youngsters rotated through stations that simulated quarterback, running back, wide receiver, linebacker and defensive end responsibilities, each drill emphasizing teamwork and basic technique.
Meanwhile, parents attended briefings led by Patriots alumni and staff, where topics such as player safety, skill progression and character development were explored in depth.
A Notable Presence on the Field
Former quarterback Brian Hoyer emphasized the importance of making the sport enjoyable and keeping kids physically active, while Dr. Jen Welter, the NFL’s first female coach, joined fellow alumni Rob Ninkovich and Jonas Gray to guide the children through skill‑focused exercises.
Dr. Michael Akinbola, the Patriots’ director of rehab and physical therapy, spoke about the long‑term health benefits associated with early exposure to football.
Volunteers from La Salle Academy’s varsity team and Xaverian High School coaches helped run the event, reinforcing the community‑driven nature of the initiative.
