A New Era of Leadership at Paul W. Bryant
Coach Christion Jones enters his third season at Paul W. Bryant High School with a clear mission: rebuild the program around discipline and leadership rather than raw talent. His philosophy extends beyond the playbook, insisting that players master responsibilities off the field as much as on it.
To embed those values, Jones introduced a Big Brother mentorship system that pairs upperclassmen with younger teammates. The initiative is designed to foster trust and create a culture where players believe in their coaches before they can fully buy into the program’s broader goals.
Sophomore defensive end Cordarro Law Jr. has already felt the shift. He notes a noticeable increase in effort during summer workouts and credits his coach for modeling the vocal leadership he hopes to develop within the locker room.
The Stampede will test this new identity on August 21 when they open the season at Albertville. Jones says the team’s primary objective is to become the most disciplined unit on the field, a standard that he believes will ultimately translate into sustained success.
