All‑Conference Selections
The PCM Mustangs closed the season with one of their most impressive conference performances in years, finishing third in the league with a 10‑6 record. All‑conference recognition is determined solely by statistics accumulated during Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play, making the honors a true reflection of in‑league excellence.
Senior Coby DeRaad anchored the lineup with a .435 batting average that topped the team and placed him sixth across the entire conference. His on‑base percentage of .500 also led the Mustangs, while he earned the distinction of first‑team catcher. DeRaad contributed 21 runs, 20 hits, seven stolen bases and a .983 fielding percentage that ranked tenth in the league.
Junior Roston McCarty proved equally dominant on the mound. He finished 4‑2 with a 1.60 earned run average that ranked fifth in the conference, while his 39 1/3 innings led the league and his 48 strikeouts placed him third. McCarty’s four pitching wins were tied for the conference lead, and opponents batted just .178 against him.
Sophomore utility player Landon Siedlecki earned a second‑team nod after batting .318 with a .436 on‑base percentage in his first year as a starter. He recorded 14 hits, 12 runs, nine walks and 22 total bases, tying for sixth in RBIs and eighth in doubles.
Seniors Izaac Bagby and Alex Wendt received honorable‑mention recognition. Bagby topped the conference with 10 hit‑by‑pitches and added 16 RBIs, while Wendt posted a .357 average and a .486 on‑base percentage, contributing 10 hits, 10 runs and four steals.
The Mustangs’ strong conference showing not only highlighted individual brilliance but also signaled a promising outlook for the program. With key contributors returning and a solid foundation built around both hitting and pitching, PCM looks poised to contend for even higher finishes in the next season.
