A Suspended Sixth Inning
The PCM baseball team suffered a 10‑7 defeat to West Marshall in a Heart of Iowa Conference contest that was called off mid‑game. The suspension came in the sixth inning, halting what had been a tightly contested battle.
Pitching duties were shared by Shay Burns and Jensson Hood. Burns worked 3 2⁄3 innings, yielding five runs, two of them earned, while scattering five hits and striking out one batter. Hood, handed the loss, allowed five earned runs on five hits and issued two walks over 2 1⁄3 innings.
At the plate, Roston McCarty and Landon Siedlecki each collected two hits, contributing to a multi‑hit effort. Alex Wendt, Bode Blackburn and Coby DeRaad added single hits, and the RBI production was anchored by Siedlecki, Blackburn and Izaac Bagby, who combined for six runs driven in.
The loss drops PCM’s overall record to 8‑3. Both the baseball and softball teams are scheduled to face Saydel on Friday, with the softball squad’s game against West Marshall postponed to June 23.
