A Season of Transition
The 2026 campaign proved to be one of the most testing schedules in recent memory for the Pella baseball program, as the team faced a cascade of setbacks that threatened to derail its momentum.
Graduating the entire Class of 2025 left a sizable void, forcing the coaching staff to look inward for replacements and to reshape the roster almost overnight.
Adding to the pressure, three of the team's championship‑winning veterans from the previous year were sidelined by injuries, opening the door for underclassmen to earn significant playing time.
Young Guns Step Up
Head Coach Jesse Jablonski repeatedly emphasized the emergence of freshmen and sophomores, noting that their growth was evident in the final weeks of the season and that they had begun to fill the gaps left by the departed seniors.
The collective effort of the younger players not only steadied the ship but also helped the team close the season on a strong note, despite the cumulative loss of another seven seniors from the roster.
