The Pella Christian baseball squad snapped a month-long winless streak on Tuesday, edging out Davis County 7-6 in the opening round of Class 2A Substate 5.
A Moment of Celebration
Coach Chris Fynaardt said the victory brought a palpable sense of joy to the locker room, the first win since May 30th and a timely boost as the team looks ahead.
Offensively, Blake Nikkel led the charge, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Ben Van Wyngarden drove in two runs, providing the crucial extra firepower.
On the mound, Karson Harrill earned the win, striking out five batters and surrendering just three earned runs over six innings.
Looking Ahead
The Eagles are set to meet Central Lee in the Substate Quarterfinals on Tuesday, with a 5 p.m. tip‑off and live coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
The game will be played in Iowa, where the team hopes to carry the momentum into the next round.
