A Season Defined by Growth
During the 2026 campaign the Pella Christian Eagles embraced a philosophy that prioritized skill refinement over win‑loss tallies, a strategy that shaped every practice and game.
Coach Chris Fynaardt introduced a series of competitive drills designed to sharpen quality at‑bats, secure first‑pitch strikes and instill disciplined plate discipline, metrics he believes are the true harbingers of future success.
Learning Through Internal Competition
To simulate game pressure the squad divided into four balanced teams of four players each, allowing each member to face realistic opposition while the coaching staff could isolate specific developmental targets.
The approach produced a 4‑29 record, a reflection of the team’s inexperience, yet the internal metrics showed measurable improvement in the very areas the coaching staff had earmarked for growth.
As the underclassmen continue to mature, the emphasis on disciplined hitting and pitch recognition is expected to translate into a higher win total in the seasons ahead, positioning Pella Christian as a program on the rise.
