A Season of Growth
The Pella Christian baseball squad navigated one of the most demanding schedules in the region this summer, squaring off against five opponents that had either captured a State Tournament berth or advanced to the Sub‑State Finals.
Out of the fifteen players on the roster, nine were freshmen or sophomores, underscoring the team’s youthful composition and the limited experience it brought into the season.
Head coach Chris Fynaardt emphasized that the rigorous slate was intentional, designed to expose the youngsters to high‑level competition and accelerate their development.
As the games progressed, the underclassmen began to find their footing, gaining confidence on the mound and at the plate while adapting to the speed and intensity of postseason‑caliber teams.
The campaign concluded with a 4‑29 record, a statistic that reflects the steep learning curve but also the tangible progress made by a squad that now possesses a deeper understanding of what it takes to compete at a higher level.

Coach Fynaardt believes the exposure gained this summer will translate into a stronger, more cohesive unit when the next season begins, positioning Pella Christian to contend more effectively in future tournaments.
