Softball Dominates, Baseball Stumbles
The Pella Christian softball squad completed a season sweep of Oskaloosa, posting 9‑8 and 10‑2 victories that lifted their overall record to 11‑9 and their conference mark to 7‑8.
Chloe Snyder’s clutch hitting proved decisive, as her grand slam sparked a comeback that sealed the first‑game victory.
Brynn Roozeboom added a heavy dose of power, driving in five runs and cracking two doubles while going 4‑for‑7 at the plate.
Supporting contributions came from Laurel Roozeboom, Rachel Kacmarynski and Finley Snyder, each collecting four hits and driving in key runs throughout the doubleheader.
The baseball team, by contrast, struggled against Oskaloosa, dropping a 19‑1 decision before falling 6‑3 in the second game despite an early 2‑0 lead.
Eagles pitchers Ben Van Wyngarden and Lewis Menninga each logged three hits, but the offense could not sustain the early advantage, and Oskaloosa pulled away with 13 additional runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Looking ahead, the softball team will host Class 3A No. 6 PCM at 7:15 p.m. tonight, while the baseball squad prepares to welcome Indianola for a single conference matchup on Friday at 7 p.m.
