Penguins Secure Robertson in Draft Pick Deal

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced a trade that brings forward Nick Robertson to the Steel City, parting with a 2028 fourth‑round selection.

Robertson, a 24‑year‑old restricted free agent, spent the last six seasons in Toronto, where he posted a career‑high 16 goals and 32 points during the 2025‑26 campaign.

His 16 goals placed him sixth among Maple Leafs teammates, while his 32 points marked the best statistical season of his NHL tenure.

In addition to his regular‑season work, Robertson added three points in 13 playoff appearances and logged 27 goals, 30 assists and 57 points in 60 AHL games with the Toronto Marlies.

Prior to turning professional, the Ontario native recorded 97 goals, 77 assists and 174 points in 162 OHL games with the Peterborough Petes, a junior career that helped shape his development.

Internationally, Robertson represented Team USA at the 2020 World Junior Championship, contributing five points in five games.

Penguins president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas said the acquisition adds depth and a proven work ethic to the roster as the club aims to contend for the Stanley Cup.

The move underscores Pittsburgh’s strategy of blending youthful talent with veteran leadership as the team looks ahead to the next season.
