Peninsula Little League Senior All-Stars Eye World Series After SoCal Crown

Coached by Rich Loughridge, the team of 15-year-olds will face a national field in Oakland, with a GoFundMe campaign covering roughly $1,000 per player in expenses.

The Peninsula Little League Senior Division All-Stars, a combined squad from Point Loma and Ocean Beach, have clinched the Southern California championship, earning a berth in the Oakland-hosted regional tournament that decides a spot in the Senior Division World Series.

A Rapid Ascent

Thirteen of the fifteen roster spots belong to freshmen or sophomores at Point Loma High School, underscoring the youthful core of the club and the immediate impact they have made on the field.

Their tournament opener featured a nail‑biting 6‑5 loss to East Anaheim, but the team rallied to a 25‑3 victory in an elimination rematch, setting the tone for a comeback run that would define the rest of the competition.

Over a nine‑day stretch the All-Stars played seven games, winning all five elimination contests, and capped the run with a 4‑3 win over El Rio on July 17 to claim the Southern California title.

Manager Rich Loughridge praised the squad’s resilience, sportsmanship and heart, noting that the team’s cohesion has been the driving force behind their surge toward the national stage.

Now they will meet opponents from Wyoming, Oregon, Montana, Northern California, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii and Alaska, while a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to offset travel, lodging and meals, with costs estimated at roughly $1,000 per player.

The team trains at Bill Cleator Neighborhood Park on Famosa Boulevard in San Diego, a venue that has hosted their early‑season battles and will continue to be a focal point as they prepare for the next stage of their journey.
