Penn Hills Looks to Rebuild After Coach Morris Exits
The Penn Hills School District is searching for a new football coach following the resignation of Charles Morris, who stepped down after four seasons that produced a 24‑20 record and two playoff appearances.
Dr. Bernard Taylor Jr., principal at Penn Hills High School, said the district wants a leader who can build a competitive team while nurturing players’ character and academic growth.
Taylor highlighted the importance of offseason conditioning and clear communication as foundations for success.
The Indians finished the previous season 3‑7 overall and 2‑3 in the Class 5A Northeast Conference, falling to rival Plum 20‑14 on a last‑second touchdown after a blocked field‑goal attempt.
Morris’ tenure included playoff runs to the Class 5A quarterfinals in 2024 and the semifinals in 2023, milestones that have set high expectations for the next coach.
Community members and parents alike are hopeful that the district’s focus on student achievement and well‑being will attract a coach capable of restoring the program’s momentum.
