A New Era for Penn State Football
Penn State’s football program is preparing for the 2026 season under new head coach Matt Campbell, following a 7‑6 campaign that prompted a sweeping roster makeover and the addition of more than 50 new players.
Among the newcomers, redshirt freshman Zay Robinson transferred from Iowa State in January 2026, bringing a multi‑sport background that includes back‑to‑back state basketball championships and a reputation as a top Iowa receiver.
Robinson, who was ranked the 12th‑best Iowa receiver in the 2025 recruiting class and earned a three‑star rating, is slated to compete for the fourth‑most receiver snaps, behind established transfers and returning starters Brett Eskildsen and Chase Sowell.
Offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser has identified Robinson as one of seven receivers he feels comfortable starting the season with, praising his competitive spirit and ability to make contested catches after a long touchdown in preseason scrimmages.
The Nittany Lions will open their schedule on September 5 at Beaver Stadium, facing Marshall in a matchup that promises to showcase the impact of the new talent and the depth added to the receiver corps.
