A coveted addition to the Nittany Lions' quarterback room
Penn State’s football program has received a verbal commitment from James Armstrong, a four-star quarterback who currently ranks ninth among the 2028 national class.
Armstrong’s senior season at a Pittsburgh-area powerhouse was nothing short of spectacular. He threw for more than 2,200 yards while adding nearly 800 rushing yards, accounting for 37 touchdowns in total. His performance earned him the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Athlete of the Year honor as a sophomore.
The recruit considered offers from several traditional power programs, including Georgia, Florida State and Auburn, before deciding to stay home and join the Nittany Lions.
Armstrong will enter a quarterback room that already features senior Will Wood, as well as true freshmen Peyton Falzone and Kase Evans and redshirt freshman Alex Manske. The depth chart promises a competitive environment for the next era of Penn State’s offense.
