Penn State hockey announced the verbal commitment of Charlie Michaud, a defenseman who will join the program for the 2026‑27 campaign, filling the final spot needed to complete the blue line.
Michaud’s college experience began at Miami (OH), where he appeared in six games during the 2025‑26 season and logged just under 13 minutes of ice time per contest without recording a point.
After that stint, he signed with the Penticton Vees of the Western Hockey League in late December, where he tallied 15 assists in 35 games, demonstrating his ability to generate offense from the defensive pairing.
Roster Balance and Future Moves
Coaches highlighted that his left‑handed shot will complement the existing right‑handed options, helping to even out the defensive pairings and add depth to the lineup.
The Nittany Lions now have a full roster once the incoming recruiting class and transfers are accounted for, though a potential departure of Gavin McKenna to the NHL could open another spot for a forward.
