A Fresh Push for Excellence
On July 1, 2026, the Penn State Nittany Lions gathered at the university's main quad for the annual Lift for Life charity event, a tradition that blends athletic competition with a commitment to rare‑disease research.
The ceremony was highlighted by the presence of new strength and conditioning coach Reid Kagy, who arrived from Iowa State to work under head coach Matt Campbell. Kagy spoke about the central role of competition and relationships in building a cohesive unit, noting that each position group must be trained to meet its unique demands.
During the workout, players tackled sled pushes, tossed medicine balls, and performed a series of position‑specific drills. Quarterback Rocco Becht impressed onlookers with a noticeable increase in speed, while linebacker Tony Rojas, still recuperating from a torn ACL, contributed behind the scenes with a steadying influence. Defensive tackle Armstrong Nnodim, a vocal leader on the line, showcased both physical presence and vocal energy.
The event also served as a platform for the Uplifting Athletes chapter at Penn State, whose mission is to fund research into rare diseases that affect countless families. By weaving athletic ambition with charitable purpose, the Lions demonstrated a philosophy that extends beyond the field.
