The University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team opened its 2026 season at Rhodes Field, facing Fairleigh Dickinson in a tightly contested, goalless draw that showcased the Quakers' early-season form.
From the first whistle Penn asserted control, outshot the Knights 11-5 and forced four of those attempts on target. An early flurry of chances tested FDU goalkeeper Rosemarie Leblanc, who managed to parry a potential opening goal within the opening five minutes.
Goalkeeper Megan Graves shines
Megan Graves played the full 90 minutes and recorded three saves, preserving the clean sheet. Her composure under pressure was evident when she denied breakaway attempts from Hailey Adamsky and Casey Forman, as well as a late strike from Karly Murless that curled just wide of the post.
The midfield and attacking corps, featuring Avery Chapel, Eden Veenema, Kylie Emanuel and Abbey Cook, maintained possession and created numerous opportunities. Ana Salas and Candela Espina also tested Graves, while Marina Burzaco's free‑kick rattled the post in the 58th minute.
FDU managed to register its first shot in the 32nd minute, but Graves' steady hand kept the score level. The Quakers will look to build on this performance when they travel to face George Washington next week.
